Body roll
Also known as: Body roll (Pole body roll)
A wave that flows through the body from the head down — heels-class staple.
The body roll teaches you to move musically before you're spinning. Practise standing, then on the floor, then with the pole in hand.
Common mistakes
- Gripping with closed fingers — use a pinch grip with the side of your palm
- Tensing your shoulders up to your ears — keep them down and back
- Looking at the floor — eyes up, head follows where you want to go
Tips from instructors
- Wear grippy shorts and a sports bra. Skin grips the pole, fabric doesn't
- Avoid moisturiser on arms and legs on class day
- If your hands sweat, try iTac2 or Dry Hands — ask the front desk
- Take your shoes off in the warm-up to feel the floor
- Don't compare day-one you to anyone's Instagram
